Boat Trip to Cagarras Island:

boat

The transfer will take you to Marina da Gloria, where you will meet the team in charge of taking you on a flatboat to see Cagarras Island. This is a wonderful way to get to know the city. On the way, there are beautiful landscapes – you will be shown all the beauty of our city as seen from the sea. For example, you will see Gloria Hill (the Monument to those who fought in World War II), the Museum of Modern Art, Santos Dumond Airport, Christ Redeemer, Flamengo Park, Botafogo Cove, Urca, and the Sugar Loaf. On the coast of Guanabara Bay you will see the São João Fortress, as well as Laje Fort and the Santa Cruz Fortress. Then we will head for Leme beach, Copacabana’s beach and Arpoador beach. From Ipanema we will steer towards the islands that form the Cagarra Archipelago and take a journey through the very rich biodiversity of the local marine fauna. In the Cagarras Archipelago, we will turn towards Comprida Island for a refreshing swim in the sea (approximately 30 minutes). Mate tea, and mineral water will be served at no additional charge. The tour lasts for half a day.

5-Beach Tour:

This tour will take you to five of Rio’s best beaches – the ones that tourists usually do not get to know. We begin with São Conrado beach, where we make our first stop. At Pepe’s beach, we will stop for photos; this spot is where the fishermen usually choose to fish. There is, in fact, a belvedere that goes by the beach and then over the rocks that separate the sea from a lake in Barra. Then we will pass by the biggest beach in Rio: Barra Beach, followed by Recreio dos Bandeirantes Beach. On the way there, you will see many people enjoying a favorite sport on the beach, such as surfing, wind surfing, kite surfing, etc. As we will be in an open Jeep, you will have full view of what’s happening around you. Next we will arrive at Prainha. This beautiful beach is located in a reserve. It too is part of the natural environment. The beach is clean and the waves are good for surfing. From there we will head for Grumari Beach, Rio’s cleanest beach. There we will stop to take a break and enjoy the beach. We will stay at the beach for about 1 hour.

Carioca’s Special Tour

We will begin the tour by visiting Largo do Boticário, a small colonial haven in the middle of town. Most of the houses in this old neighborhood date from the 19th century. Some are decorated with picturesque azulejos (Portuguese tiles), which have a colonial influence to them. There are also old-style cobbled streets and a charming fountain. From there we will head for Aterro do Flamengo and Maracanã Stadium. During the visit to the stadium you will enter and learn about the stadium’s history. Then we will return to the hotel passing by the Sambodrome, where the guide will tell us a little bit about Carnival in Rio.

Weekend in Paraty

A weekend trip to this amazing city: 2 (two) nights in a guesthouse located in the centre of Paraty close to the Historic Centre (walking distance); regular round-trip transfers Rio/Paraty/Rio; a boat tour - 5 hours duration - Departure at 11.00 am from fisherman’s pier; and a walking tour -2 hours duration around the historical centre of the city.

Week-end

Special Full Day Tour: Christ the Redeemer, Tijuca Forest National Park, lunch at a top restaurant and Sugar Loaf.

The main objective of the tour is to introduce the Conference participants and accompanying persons to three different perspectives of Rio: 1 - The beaches, 2 - Downtown, and the old neighborhoods which reveal its historical architecture as well as the monarchy’s history, 3- Tijuca Forest, the biggest urban forest in Rio.

The tour will begin with a drive along the beaches and then we will proceed to downtown, where the tour guide will explain the history of the place. We will then go on to Christ Redeemer passing by Lapa and Santa Tereza, two beautiful neighborhoods that every tourist should see. After about one hour at Christ Redeemer Statue, where you will be able to appreciate the most beautiful view of the city, we will head towards Tijuca Forest where we will take a walk through the forest, enabling you to become acquainted with the local fauna and flora. We recommend that you visit the Cascatinha Waterfall and the Visitors’ Center. We will then return to São Corado beach, where we will stop at a small food shop on the beach. In this way you will be able to appreciate the view and enjoy some coconut water. Then we will pass by the beaches on our way to the Sugar Loaf, where we will stop at Zozô’s for lunch. This top cuisine restaurant offers buffet salads, grilled food, typical Brazilian food, barbecue and more. After lunch, we will go to the top of Sugar Loaf by cable car to see the view of Rio. This tour is the most complete and it is done in a jeep - much preferred to other types of cars or buses. We will pass by a total of 8 beaches, stop on São Conrado's beach, do light hiking in Tijuca Rain Forest (the biggest one in an urban area), go up to Christ Redeemer (tickets included), pass by Santa Tereza (with stops for photos), Lapa, and Downtown - the historical part of our city where you will see the National Library, the Municipal Theater, and other sights. Then after lunch, the tour will come to an amazing end with a view from the top of Sugar Loaf (the itinerary can be changed if necessary).
